The Uncharted Realms were hidden away in seclusion for thousands of years until recently. Hundreds of explorers had failed to return from their treks into the wilderness known as the Netherwilds. Eventually, everyone came to believe that it would be impossible to return alive.

A minor lord named Tobias was desperate to improve the status and wealth of his family. He gambled his remaining wealth and backed an expedition into the Netherwilds led by Captain Tanner. Miraculously, Captain Tanner managed to succeed whereas all other had failed. No one knows why Tobias' explorer was able to find his way back from the Netherwilds when other explorers had not been able to.

Tobias led a small army back to the Netherwilds where they set up camp in ruins of a forgotten city; the camp would eventually grow into the city known as Kalidos. Almost immediately, they were besieged by native human druids who sought to repel the Evendarrians from their lands.
​
Tobias ordered his army and hired adventurers to fight the druids. The druids fought fiercely but were ultimately defeated and nearly eradicated. The victory over the druids gave Tobias a foothold in the Netherwilds and he was awarded the title of Duke by Prince Marcus of the Principality of Brighthome.

The Netherwilds is a strange region where danger and mysteries lurk. This is a place where magic sometimes behaves oddly, and where entities from other worlds seem to be drawn to. Ruins and treasures of an ancient, highly advanced civilization are scattered throughout the landscape; what could have caused their civilization to crumble?

Akeem, the lich lord: He sits on his throne in the plane of Chaos. This Akeem came from another reality whereas the Evendarrian Akeem had been destroyed many years ago. Akeem is a calculating and scheming undead with the ability to harness high sorcery magic. No one is sure of his current machinations, but they cannot be good for the Netherwilds.

Coo-atle: A small primate-like creature that has two tails which they use to mimic venomous snakes. They are very curious, intelligent, and friendly.

Magic Blue Stones: These crystals can be found in ruins, tombs, and mines in the Netherwilds. Occasionally, yellow and red magical stones can be found. The magic stones contain some sort of magical energy that may be of use.

Mithril Ore: Magical metal that is silvery white in color. It has natural magical properties and is desired for use in weapons and armor.

The Dungeon: The dungeon appeared after a volcano erupted. Adventuring parties regularly form to explore the dungeon levels which become increasingly more dangerous.

Spirit of Mischief: The spirit of the land had been split into fragments but was eventually made whole again. Mischief (the Knave) was one of the fragments and kept his identity when the rest of the fragments were reformed into the Spirit of the land.

Svartalfar: A race of dwarf-like people that have lived deep underground in seclusion for thousands of years. Their skin is a nearly translucent pale white and they have bird-like legs. They excel at metalcraft but cannot cast magic at all. The Svartalfar mine ores with the aid of large tamed insects they call Glittenkneuf. The Glittenkneuf look like a cross between a mantis and a beetle, are four foot tall, and have prismatic chitin.

University of the Netherwilds: The university was commisioned by the late Baron Panolas of Clanthian Rossanoe and built at the foot of the Razorback Ridge. The purpose of the university is to provide a place of learning where all people of good standing with Evendarr may go to learn.
